Our mission
Rabko is a bilingual network. It promotes dialogue and reflection, shares information, and sparks conversations about all matters related to art and culture in Brussels.
Support and unite
RABKO brings together more than 160 cultural actors from all disciplines and types of organisations. The network was founded by Brussels’ art organisations to encourage dialogue and stimulate synergies on an artistic and political level.
Voice of the sector
RABKO aims to contribute to the visionary development of Brussels’ cultural sector. We want to reinforce it by developing a communal cultural policy that transcends disciplinal, sectoral, and language borders, and that is adjusted to the daily reality of the (European) capital.
The themes we put forward all emerge from the needs and questions of the sector itself. Through debates, round tables, working groups and training sessions, we stimulate exchange between all cultural workers, whether they are members of the network or not.

Political representation
Contributing to a prospering cultural policy
Brussels boasts a thriving artistic and cultural scene. A dynamic, innovative, and institutionally complex city like this can only benefit from strong, well-founded cultural policies.
Through constructive dialogue, RABKO advocates on a wide range of issues related to arts and culture. We represent the interests of the entire cultural sector by formulating position statements and recommendations for political parties and their representatives at all levels. We also represent the network in various cultural and institutional commissions and boards.
Networking and exchange
The strength of the network
Together with all the cultural workers in the Region, we aim to stimulate exchange, discussion, and reflection about the many challenges it faces.
The strength of the network lies in the connections it creates. This richness serves as fertile ground for the various themes we explore through our projects and events.
Whatever the format of our activities - working groups, thematic sessions, structural collaborations, or sector-wide consultation - collective actions play a central role in our programme.
Advice and information
Monitoring the developments within the sector
RABKO gives advice, builds bridges between members and partners, and facilitates the flow of information between cultural workers within the network.
We also serve as an information hub and communication platform for the sector through a website, newsletters, and social media channels. Brussels is one of the most multilingual cities in the world; we therefore consider multilingual communication a core value of the network.
Partnerships
RABKO has always associated itself with a grand number of partners who experience the complexity and diversity of Brussels every day. We work together very closely with universities, research- and documentation centres, sectoral umbrella organisations, and civil society organisations showing interest in the same themes as we do.
Naturally we work together with other networks in Brussels, such as Brussels Museums, N22 Brussels’ Community Centres and La Concertation – Action Culturelle Bruxelloise.
